Suddenly single Teen Mom star Maci Bookout has been getting closer to her ex Ryan Edwards, since she and Kyle King decided to take a break. “Maci and Ryan’s friendship has been great,” says an insider. “They’ve been doing a good job figuring out a system of how to raise Bentley together.”
Ryan’s parents, Larry and Jennifer Edwards, also praise the young parents for putting aside their differences to learn to be good parents to their 2-year- old son. “We’re extremely proud of the way Ryan and Maci are coming together to co-parent Bentley,” they tell OK! in this week’s all new issue, on stands now. “They’ve both grown so much.”
“A part of Maci will always love Ryan,” says a source. “He’s the father of her son. And whenever she looks at Bentley, he’s a part of Ryan, too.” Even after Maci and Ryan broke up and she started a new relationship with Kyle — moving with him to Murfreesboro, Tenn. — Ryan remained on her mind. “Maci tried not to do anything that would hurt Ryan’s feelings or make things awkward between them,” says the insider.
After all, Ryan was her first love. Maci, 19, had just finished her sophomore year of high school and was a virgin when she first met Ryan, 23. Though the young parents argued a lot after Bentley was born, the spark between them has never died. That’s not surprising because it’s common to idealize first love.
